Light Horse for August 20th 2009

With approaching 1,000 horses of all shapes, sizes and colours, the Light Horse section is almost a Show within the Show. Hunters for riding, breeding and working show alongside Arabs - pure bred, anglo and part-bred. Children from 3 years old upwards show their exceptional horsemanship with well schooled Riding Ponies. The Welsh breeds - section A, B C and the magnificent section D Cobs show off to appreciative onlookers.
2006 saw the introduction of a brand new award - The Sangwyn Stud Perpetual Trophy plus £100 in prize money to the Welsh Section Champion of Champions! This is an exciting finale to this much supported sector of the Light Horse section.

Presented in their 'natural' state, the Mountain and Moorland breeds show the wide range of horse and pony used in the U.K.today. Experience the tense atmosphere at the Coloured Horse and Pony ring as exhibitors battle for one of the final qualifying places for the prestigious Horse of the year Show in the Autumn. With Shetlands, Palominos, Riding Horses and Breeding Ponies, there really is something to suit all tastes in the Light Horse showing area. If Carriage Driving is more to your taste, step back to a bygone era of grace and elegance, and wander across to the Clwyd Ring to see the Private Driving classes being judged, or, wait a little longer, and watch them take a turn around the Main Ring for the Concours d'Elegance judging - which one presents the most elegant effect and might make a good picture. Delightful, charming and highly skilled.
