General Rules

Denbighshire and Flintshire Agricultural Society Ltd.

  1. No Prizes shall be offered from the funds of the Society which have not been sanctioned
  2. by the Management Committee, and the Society reserves to itself the power to withhold any Prize or Prizes where the Judges say there is not sufficient merit. All classes are open to the United Kingdom except where stated.
  3. All Special Prizes or Cups offered to the Society, which will become the property of the Society, and Cups won at previous Shows, must be handed over within one calendar mon th prior to the Show.
  4. Only the signed awards of the Judges are accepted by the Society as evidence that a prizes has been awarded.
  5. 1 st and 2 nd Prize Winners only, in appropriates Classes, go forward for Championship of Section and Grand Parade.
  6. The dec ision of the Judges will in all cases be final, except where fraud, misrepresentation or breach of the Rules is discovered. In the case of any dispute as to the height of any animal exhibited, the rules of the Joint Measurement Scheme Ltd. For the time being in force which can be obtained from the Secretary of the Joint Measurement Scheme Ltd., British Equestrian Centre, Kenilworth, CV8 2LR, shall apply.
  7. In the case of any dispute as to the age of any animal entered as being of a specified age the Steward shall call in the Veterinary Surgeon appointed by the Society for the purpose whose decision (unless the animal has been accepted for Registration by its Herd, Stud or Flock Book Society) shall be final, and such animal if not eligible for the class in which it is entered, shall be disqualified.
  8. The Society, acting through its Management Committee, reserves the right to refuse any entries without assigning a reason for so doing, and to cancel or abandon any class or section at any time prior to or on the day of the Annual Show, if there are fewer than three exhibitors.
  9. All stock competing must be the bona-fide property of the Exhibitor and must have been so owned and in his or her possession for at least TWO MONTHS previous to the day of the Show, except where otherwise stated. All exhibitors are recommended to have adequate insurance and public liability cover for their stock.
  10. No animal shall have its teats sealed during the Show nor shall the udder be in any way “faked”. Groups – animals should already have been entered and shown previous classes.
  11. All Bulls over 10 months must be secured by a ring in the nose, and with staff or chain attached, otherwise they will not be admitted to the field. Cattle will not be admitted without ties to secure them to the posts. Please refer to safety statement.
  12. The stock exhibited must not be distinguished during judging by any means which denotes their ownership, but solely by a number Ticket fixed to each Exhibit which will be sent by the Secretary previous to the Show and will correspond with the number in the Catalogue.
  13. No substitution of animals will be allowed after closing date of entries, except in the Jumping Classes as permitted under B.S.J.A.Rule 73.9.
  14. All persons in charge of the Horses, Cattle, etc., on behalf of the Exhibitor must be acquainted with the various particulars required to be carried out regarding the Stock they have in their charge, and must be ready to bring out their animals when required to do so by the Stewards. Exhibitors are responsible for seeing that their animals are led by competent persons, and no person under the age of 16 shall be permitted to lead a Bull over the age of 10 months.
  15. The Hon. Showyard Director shall have power to elect his own Superintendents and Stewards, who must be Non-Exhibitors in their own Section. All officials at the Show to work under the sup ervision of the Hon. Showyard Director.
  16. All protests must be delivered in writing to the Secretary within 30 minutes of the completion of the judging of the Class, unless a satisfactory reason assigned for the delay, together with a fee of £25. All protests will be heard by the Management Committee within one month after the day of the Show except that, whenever possible, protests will be considered and settled on the Showground by the Hon. Showyard Director and the various Superintendents who will report such decision to the Management Committee at their next meeting.
  17. The Society will most anxiously care for the safety of the exhibits, and for any other property entrusted to them, but it must be distinctly understood by the Exhibitors and Purchasers.of any exhibits and all other persons, that the Society will not be responsible for the entire or partial loss, or detention of, or damage to any exhibit, boxes, hampers, collars, or any other property during transit or at the Exhibition whether arising from accident or any other cause whatever, nor for any act or omission of themselves, their officers, servants, or others, and it is on this understanding only that entries are received.
  18. The Society will find all the Showyard fittings and requirements, including the Grand Stand and will take all receipts arising from same.
  19. The Parking of vehicles on the Showyard site will not be permitted.
  20. All exhibitors and their employees, and all other persons admitted to the Showground shall be subject to the rules and regulations as interpreted by the Management Committee of the Denbighshire and Flintshire Agricultural Society Ltd.
  21. No additional classes shall be added to the Schedule after publication except any of a minor nature and that only at the consent of the Hon. Showyard Director and his Officers.
  22. Exhibitors please Note – No refund of Entry Fees.
  23. All Prize-winners must appear in the Grand Parade. Livestock may not be removed from the Showground before the end of the Grand Parade or prize money may be forfeit.

BY ORDER OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

  1. The Showyard Director has the discretion to change the time of Judging classes and location as and when necessary.
  2. This show will be run in accordance with DEFRA regulations current at the time and all exhibitors must comply fully with guidelines laid down. Any exhibitor or exhibit not conforming will be refused entry to the show fields and no refunds will be made.
